The athlete will depart from the Alicante coast between September 14 and 16, depending on weather conditions. He is expected to reach Ibiza in a maximum of 16 hours.

The experienced sailor from Alicante, Darío Quesada, plans in the coming days to take on the challenge of crossing the Mediterranean on a windsurf board, from Benidorm to Sant Antoni, without stops, passing by Calpe, where a marker buoy will be placed. The departure will take place between September 14th and 16th, depending on the weather, and the objective of this challenge, supported by Club Nàutic Sant Antoni, is to raise funds for breast and gynecological cancer research, which will be donated to the Anémona Association, based in the Marina Baixa region of Alicante.

Quesada, a windsurfer at Club Náutico Benidorm, will undertake an extraordinarily difficult route of 83 nautical miles (154 kilometers). The challenge is expected to last between 6 and 16 hours, depending on the wind conditions of the day, which may allow him to travel in a straight line or force him to zigzag, covering many more kilometers.

Several boats from the port of Benidorm will accompany Quesada during the departure, and if he arrives during daylight, the same will happen in the port of Sant Antoni, where numerous vessels will be there to welcome him, as happened, for example, when David Meca swam from the Alicante coast to Ibiza. During the journey, he will be accompanied by two boats: a 19-meter vessel from the Real Club Náutico de Calpe and an 8-meter boat from Club Náutico Benidorm. In addition to receiving and assisting the windsurfer upon arrival, Club Nàutic Sant Antoni will provide the necessary logistics in Portmany Bay.

Those wishing to make donations for this cause can do so via the Caixabank account: ES02 2100 1719 1002 0023 4330.
