More than 300 swimmers take part in the Ibiza Town Open-Water Swim

Figueretes Beach once again became the setting for one of the major events on the summer calendar on Sunday, 2nd of August, with a new edition of the Ibiza Town Open-Water Swim. Organised by Club Trideporte, the event brought together more than 300 swimmers of all ages and abilities for a day characterised by sport, personal achievement and an excellent atmosphere.

The swimming channel hosted the 500-metre and 2,000-metre races, as well as the 4×500-metre relay, offering participants a course overlooking the historic Dalt Vila old town. The event proceeded without incident thanks to a safety operation involving volunteers, Civil Protection personnel, support boats and medical staff.

In the competitive events, the men’s 2,000-metre race was closely contested. Javier Cardona Recio of AD Ibiza Half Triathlon claimed victory, completing the distance in 28:19. Pau Torres Vega of Club Natació Eivissa finished second, just six seconds behind in 28:25, while Rafael Reyes Martínez of AD Ibiza Half Triathlon completed the podium with a time of 28:30.

In the women’s 2,000-metre category, María del Mar Ibán Baker of AD Ibiza Half Triathlon secured a convincing victory with a time of 30:28. Nia Moana Freundlieb of Hamburger Schwimmverband finished second in 31:20, while Tanit Álvarez Argento of Club Nàutic Santa Eulàlia took third place, stopping the clock at 31:24.

In the men’s 500-metre race, Francisco José Pérez of Club Nàutic Santa Eulàlia took the win with a time of 6:46, closely followed by Miquel Llorens Riera of Club Natació Eivissa, who finished second in 6:48. Marc Ribas, also representing Club Natació Eivissa, crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 7:20.

In the women’s 500-metre event, Patricia Quirós Tur of Saltoki Trikideak was the fastest, finishing in 7:15 and beating Laia Roig Moreno of Club Nàutic Santa Eulàlia by just one second. Roig Moreno took second place in 7:16, while María Castillo Villena of CN Mairena del Aljarafe completed the podium with a time of 8:01.

The organisers paid special tribute to the youngest and oldest participants of the day, reaffirming the inclusive and intergenerational nature of an event that has become firmly established in the Pityusic Islands. Following the trophy presentation and traditional prize draw, Club Trideporte praised the successful organisation of the event and thanked Eivissa Town Council, sponsors, partners and emergency services for their support and involvement.
