The Pro-Rigging Regatta, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma, will celebrate a new edition between February 20th and 22nd and from February 27th and March 1st, with a renovated format that, for the first time, divides the program into two consecutive weekends. The race reunites the main light sailing classes of the autonomic calendar and, by lack of the last inscription days, it already has 208 registered boats, of which 136 belong to the Optimist class.

During the first competition block, from February 21st to the 22nd, a children's fleet of Optimist and Optimist D will sail. The second weekend, from February 27th to March 1st, will be dedicated to the young 420, 29er, ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 classes, in addition to the senior categories of Ok Dinghy and Snipe.

The ProRigging format, alongside the Audax Regatta and the Abanca Ciutat de Palma Trophy, the three great annual events of light sailing organized by the RCNP. These three competitions structure competitive activity of base sailing of the club and focus each season to a good part of the Balearic fleet, in case of the two firsts, and national and international, in the Ciutat de Palma one, the oldest sports test in Mallorca.

The main innovation of Pro-Rigging this year is its division into two weekends, a decision taken by the technical area with the aim of optimizing sports and logistics management of the event. The sailing technical director of the club, Pedro Marí, explains that "we've decided to divide it into two weeks to focus more in the classes and giving a better support to participants".

Marí points out that the high participation has been a determining factor in this reorganization: “A lot of people always come, also from the islands of Ibiza and Menorca. All these years we have many registries”. In this sense, he reminds that the old format contained all activity in just a few days: “Previously we had everything contained into a week, with many boats at water and at sea. We think it is best for everyone to divide the fleets”.

The regatta has the main sponsorship of Pro-Rigging, leading company in repair and maintenance of rigging in the Balearic Islands, that collaborates with the race since over a decade ago and gives name to the event. Gaceta Náutica also participates as a collaborating entity, which will give its traditional award "Toimoncito" to the podium of Optimist's Group D, category destined to sailors in the initiation phase of the competition.

In an organization plan, the main official of the regatta, Gaspar Morey, has confirmed that the elevated inscription will oblige to divide the Optimist fleet into two groups, the figure of 70 participants has been surpassed in this class.

The sports program establishes the start of the races at 11 a.m. in both competition weeks. The regattas office will open on Fridays 20th and 27th of February for the previous registry of participants.

The ceremony awards will also be carried out in a separate way, in consonance with the new structure of the event: the corresponding to the Optimist class will take place on Sunday 22nd of February, while the other classes will compete on Sunday March 1st.
