The Art Explora Festival and its museum boat have closed their stopover in Ibiza with more than 11,000 visitors over seven days at IGY Ibiza Marina. The initiative, free of charge and open to all audiences, has once again highlighted the appeal of its travelling format and its ability to bring culture closer to broad audiences.

During its stay on the island, the festival welcomed 1,150 participants from schools and social organisations through more than 28 dedicated workshops, involving 39 groups and 20 organisations. In addition, 14 activities open to the public were held, bringing together 362 attendees through creative and participatory workshops, storytelling sessions and guided tours. The programme was completed with three live performances, featuring six artists from Spain and Lebanon, with folk dance proposals and DJ sets.

“This stopover in Ibiza confirms the strength of our model: offering free access to high-quality cultural experiences connected to the local context. Art Explora was born from a simple conviction: art should be accessible to everyone. In a territory shaped by exchanges across the Mediterranean, this purpose takes on a special meaning. The diversity of audiences and the response to the programme reflect our commitment to creating shared experiences that connect artists, local communities and visitors,” said Bruno Julliard, Executive Director of Art Explora.

The programme in Ibiza was structured around the museum boat, which offered immersive experiences focused on the cultures and narratives of the Mediterranean. These included a sound journey developed together with IRCAM / Centre Pompidou and Mediterranean Wonders, a virtual reality experience created with Ubisoft that allows visitors to explore cities such as Alexandria, Athens and Venice.

In parallel, the port area hosted a programme of live activities and participatory formats, with performances such as the traditional Ibizan dance by Colla Sa Bodega and a DJ set by Jana Saleh, creating meeting spaces linked both to local culture and contemporary creation.

Workshops played a central role as spaces for transmission and exchange, combining local traditions with practices from other cultural contexts. These included proposals linked to Ibizan heritage, such as esparto grass craftsmanship and traditional Ibizan dance, alongside initiatives such as suminagashi, Sea of Sounds and the Ibiza Cinema Walk, which highlights the island’s connection with cinematic language.

The festival also incorporated an inclusive approach, enabling the participation of different audience profiles. In addition to school groups, people with specific needs, including people with disabilities, older people and groups with less access to cultural offerings, were able to take part both in visits to the museum boat and in the workshops.

After Barcelona and Ibiza, the festival will continue its journey in 2026 with a new stop in Cascais, Portugal, from June 18th to 28th, further advancing its mission to connect territories and bring culture to as many people as possible.
