Menorcans Toni and Sasha Pons achieve gold at the 46th Spanish Army Trophy

The 46th Spanish Army Trophy, 13th Admiral Marcial Sanchez Barcaiztegui Trophy, Paco Pérez Memorial finishes in Santiago de la Ribera in a non-disputed third session due to the lack of wind.

The podium in the absolute overall, with three completed session in these three journeys, finishes with Francisco and Marina Sánchez (RCR Santiago de la Ribera) as second, and Manuel Madrid (CN Los Nietos) and Alejandro Barnuevo (RCRSR) ad third.

The 46th Spanish Army Trophy, 13th Admiral Marcial Sanchez Barcaiztegui Trophy, Paco Pérez Memorial already has its new champions. A somewhat grey title, but well-deserved and won by the Balearic group formed by Toni and Sasha Pons, from the Club Nàutic Ciutadella, after three very complicated sessions for everyone, due to the instensity of the wind and its inestability.

After two sessions in which participants have sailed in the Mar Menor, in the third race the wind did not want to participate in the party organizes by the RCR de Santiago de la Ribera in which close to 65 Snipe class boats gathered. 

No wind has caused the session to not take place, although the three completed sessions, one on Saturday 6th and the other on Sunday December 7th, allows closing the qualifying and obtaining the podium. In this sense, and in these valid results in these three sessions, Balearics Toni and Sasha Pons take the Army Trophy to Ciutadella.

The podium closes with the locals Francisco and Marina Sánchez (RCR Santiago de la Ribera) getting 17 points, to 9 of the champions. Bronze is for Manuel Madrid (CN Los Nietos) and Alejandro Barnuevo (RCR Santiago de la Ribera) achieveing 24 points. The fourth and fifth place, respectively, has been for Rafa Díaz and María Bover (RC Mediterráneo), with 27 points and José Pedro Santos and Gonzalo Barreto (CN Cascais), adding 32 points.

Ángel Ballesteros and Sonia Hidalgo (RCN Motril) are the first qualified in the Master category. Manuel Barrionuevo (CN Los Nietos) and Gonzalo Luis Cano (CN Puerto Sherry) finish first in the young fleet.

The awards ceremony, celebrated in the Social area of the RCRSR, has had the presence of Juan José Camarasa president of the Real Club de Regatas de Santiago de la Ribera; Alejandro Cuerda, Almirante Jefe del Arsenal Militar de Cartagena; Hector Verdú, Second Tennant of Mayor of the Town Hall of San Javier; Arturo García president of the FVRM; José Enrique Pomares, Captain of the Ship and President of the Naval Commission of Regattas of Cartagena; Antonio Pena; Regional Secretary of the Snipe class; Laura Ojeda; Captain of the Sixth Fleet and Mauricio Ruiz, Mayor Pedáneo and Manager of the RCRSR.
