The APB consolidates the portuary infrastructure and transforms its environment into a more accessible, organized and sustainable space, in benfit of the users of the mooring service and of the neighbors of the area.

YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The Balearics Portuary Authority (APB) has completed the rehabilitation of the environment of Cala el Fonduco, in the port of Mahón. The performance combines functional and safety improvement of the dock with the urban transformation of the portuary space to make it kinder, more accesible and more sustainable.
The project has has as main objective guaranteeing the durability and stability of the inferior platform of the dock, reinforcing the dafety and operativity conditions of the direct management service of the mooring that lends APB in this area. These improvements allow offering a more efficient and reliable service to the nautical users, in adittion to ensuring the long-term conservation of a key infrastructure of the port of Mahón and the municipality of Es Castell.
In addition to the structural consolidation, the intervention has included the reurbanization of the adjacent vial, with a newmixed pavement, apt for trafic as well as for pedestrians, and the urban furniture installation, that improves functionality and quality of the public space. This way, the Fonduco turns into a more organized and accesible environment, which reinforces connection bewteen the port and the city.
During the execution of the workd, the Town Hall of Es Castell took advantage of the inervention to replace the cannalizations of drinkable water and sewage. This coordination between administrations has allowed optimizing resources and contributing to the sustainability and efficieny of the urban services, avoiding future afections to the renovated space.
The works, adjudiced to the UTE Moll Cala Fonduco with a budget of 498.306,16 euros, is set inside APB's strategy to recover and improve portuary spaces to boost a major port-city integration and boost living between nutical activity and the civilian use.
