Marina Port Andratx will host on June 27th the 8th edition of “Álex, Rumbo a Ti”, an adapted sailing day that will once again bring together around 85 participants from different parts of Mallorca and other regions of Spain.

Organized by Mi Fundación Álex, Marina Port Andratx, the Club de Vela Puerto Andratx, and with the support of Fundación Ecomar, the initiative has become, after almost two decades, one of the benchmark inclusive sailing events in the Balearic Islands, promoting participation, coexistence, and equal opportunities through sport and contact with the sea.

Mi Fundación Álex, created more than twenty years ago in memory of Álex Masfurroll, works to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and promote their full inclusion in society. Through projects linked to inclusive sport, training, and employment integration, the foundation drives initiatives that foster autonomy, active participation, and equal opportunities.

Juan José Beltrán, director of the Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx, highlighted the impact the regatta has had both on the club and on all those who have taken part over the years.

“Álex, Rumbo a Ti has transformed our club and those of us who are part of it. Thanks to this initiative, we have learned that sailing can be much more than a sport: it can become a tool for inclusion, learning, and personal growth. The legacy of Gabriel Masfurroll remains very present in this project, which year after year continues to generate unforgettable experiences and memories for participants, families, and volunteers.”

Throughout the day, participants will enjoy different nautical and adapted sailing activities, accompanied by sailors from the Sailing School of Puerto de Andratx, instructors, volunteers, and collaborators who make this experience possible.

Fundación Ecomar has collaborated in this regatta since its beginnings, bringing an essential focus on environmental education and ocean conservation. Through its work, the organization helps raise awareness among participants, families, and collaborators about the importance of protecting the oceans and enjoying the marine environment responsibly. Although this year Theresa Zabell, double Olympic gold medalist and one of Spain’s leading sailing figures, will not be able to attend in person, the foundation she presides will once again be represented, reaffirming its commitment to an initiative that unites sport, inclusion, and respect for the sea.

The event will conclude with a closing ceremony and awards presentation for all sailors, where every participant will be recognized as a protagonist.

The strong interest in this initiative has once again been evident this year, with all available places fully booked weeks in advance, reflecting the support and enthusiasm it generates among participants, families, and partner organizations.

Paola Masfurroll, president of the foundation, stated: “Álex, Rumbo a Ti is much more than a sailing event; it is a space where we show that sport and the sea can break down any barrier. At Mi Fundación Álex we work so that each person has the opportunity to participate, enjoy, and feel part of society. Seeing year after year the excitement of participants and their families is the best reflection of the impact we can generate when we join efforts.”

Patrick Reynés, CEO of IPM Group, highlighted the importance of continuing to promote initiatives that bring the sea closer to everyone and contribute to building a more inclusive society.

“For Marina Port Andratx, it is a source of pride to be part of a day that conveys such important values as inclusion, teamwork, and equal opportunities. The sea has a tremendous ability to bring people together, and events like Álex, Rumbo a Ti are a perfect example of this.”

Beyond sailing, “Álex, Rumbo a Ti” has established itself as a meeting point where participants, families, volunteers, and partner organizations share a day marked by enthusiasm, coexistence, and a spirit of resilience, demonstrating year after year the value of sport as a tool for social inclusion.
