Marina Ibiza wins the IX APD Crossing Regatta aboard the 'Galaxie'

On Thursday, 8th of May, Marina Ibiza once again became the meeting point for the nautical business, acting as the host port for this annual event, which has already established itself as an essential event on the calendar.

During this 9th edition of the Crossing Regatta organised by the APD, 11 boats and around 120 company directors from Ibiza and Palma sailed between islands, with the Cala Figuera lighthouse as the starting point, Tagomago as the finish line and Marina Ibiza as the host port for the arrival, once again consolidating the link between the business world and the nautical world.

On this occasion, in addition to providing its infrastructure and hospitality for the development of the event, Marina Ibiza has managed to win the victory aboard the electric sailboat ‘Galaxie’, a classic, robust and efficient boat that surprised in the final classification.

Despite the lack of wind for much of the day - a circumstance that led many teams to resort to the use of the engine before reaching the finish line - some boats managed to complete the course under sail and within the stipulated time. Among them, ‘Galaxie’ stood out for its resilience, the skill of its crew and its determination, sailing flawlessly across the finish line. The team's experience and understanding on board were key to adapting to the changing conditions and achieving a well-deserved victory as Marina Ibiza's representative.

The ‘Galaxie’ stands out for being a 100% electric sailboat, making it a benchmark for sustainable sailing. Aware of its commitment to the environment, Marina Ibiza chose to sail aboard this boat to align its participation with its philosophy of supporting environmentally responsible initiatives and promoting the use of clean technologies in sport.

In addition, as part of the regatta's social commitment, a donation of €3,400 was made to the APFEM (Associació Pitiüsa per a la Salut Mental), thanks to the collaboration of all the participating companies. CaixaBank, in its support for the cause, doubled this amount, making a significant total of €7,700, to contribute to local projects.

The regatta ended with the traditional prize-giving ceremony at the Calma restaurant in the marina, where Marcos Marí, CEO of Marina Ibiza, was in charge of closing the event:
