Mallorca's Francisco Truyols y Pablo Romero, 29er Spain champions

Francisco Truyols and Pablo Romero, sailors from Real Club Náutico de Palma, have been crowned as Spain champions of the 29er class in one of the most important events of the youth national sailing calendar. The competition, which began last Thursday April 9th, has gathered some of the best crews of the country, with 24 registered sailors.

The championship has been marked by very demanding wind conditions that have put the fleet as well as the organization to the test. As in previous sessions, the intensity has also been the spotlight in the final track, even though sailors kept their commitment with competition and were able to complete five races in the last session, reaching a total of 13 races carried out during the championship.

The overall qualifying places Truyols and Romero, from Real Club Náutico de Palma, on the top of the podium. The second position has been for Inés Martín-Urda (RCNGC) and Tomás Budiño (RCMS), while the third place has been occupied by Jaime Lang-Lenton and Salvador Giles (RCNGC).

With this result, Francisco Truyols improved the third achieved place in Spain's 29er Championship, which took place in June of last year. This way, the title changes of owner in accordance with 2025, when Inés Martín-Urda was crowned champion of Spain alongside Natalia Méndez (RCNGC).

In the female category, the title of champions of Spain of the RFEV has gone to Olívia Martínez García and Lucía Yllera Pazos, of the RCMS, who signed an outstanding performance throughout the championship.

Command Admiral of the Canary Islands Naval Command Course, Santiago de Colsa Trueba, Head of the Arsenal of Las Palmas, Carlos María Garau Pérez-Crespo, Commodore of RCNGC, Gustavo del Castillo Palop and President of the Insular Sailing Federation of Gran Canaria, David Pérez Ramboux.  

The event has shown once again the high level of the 29er classes in Spain and the capacity of sailors to get to the maximum even in demanding meteorological conditions.
