Santander was the setting for the Spanish 29er Championship, featuring Mallorcan sailors Francisco Truyols and Ignacio Martín, both representing the Real Club Náutico de Palma.

Inés Martín and Natalia Méndez from the Canary Islands (Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria) claimed the national title thanks to their dominance on the water, securing four race wins out of eight and demonstrating an outstanding level that led them to top both the women’s and overall rankings.
In the overall classification, second place went to fellow Canarians Jaime Lang-Lenton and Salvador Giles, who climbed one spot in the final race, followed by Francisco Truyols and Ignacio Martín from the Real Club Náutico de Palma, who completed the podium.
The women’s podium was rounded out by locals Olivia Martínez and Lucía Yllera (Real Club Marítimo de Santander), who also achieved an impressive fifth place in the overall standings, along with fellow Canarians Maite Díaz and Ana Chegni.
The championship also served to highlight the achievements of the Sailing School of the Real Club Marítimo de Santander, which continues to make strong progress in the highly technical and demanding 29er class—seen as a stepping stone to the Olympic 49er class.
In addition to the women’s runner-up title, Olivia Martínez and Lucía Yllera delivered a strong overall performance, while Diego Piris and Tomás Budiño secured a solid fourth place in the overall classification, confirming the excellent work of the local youth sailing program throughout the year.
The Santander International Sailing Week thus concludes its tenth edition, consolidating its status as a key event on the national sailing calendar. In recent weeks, the city has hosted races in the cruiser, Snipe, and 29er classes, further strengthening its reputation as a hub for high-level sailing events.
