In this context, the initiative included the participation of representatives from the Balearic Islands’ nautical business community, helping to present a vision of the destination that goes far beyond its privileged sailing conditions.
The institutional event held in Palma to welcome the Mexican delegation brought together representatives of the main public administrations and organisations linked to tourism and nautical activities across the islands. Among those attending were Alejandro Sáez de San Pedro, Minister for Business, Employment and Energy of the Balearic Government; Bartolomé Ferragut Llodrà, Director of Tourism Demand and Hospitality at the Mallorca Island Council and Vice-President of the Mallorca Responsible Tourism Foundation; Silvia Delgado, Managing Director of the Balearic Islands Regional Development Agency; Jordi Carrasco, Director General of ANEN; and Maria del Camino González Mari, Head of Communications for the Tourism Department of the Mallorca Island Council.
Promoted by Turespaña through its OET in Mexico and organised by ANEN, the trip aimed to showcase Mallorca to the Mexican market as a premium nautical tourism destination, highlighting how experiences connected to the sea complement other major assets of the island, including gastronomy, culture, heritage, nature, wellness, shopping and high-quality accommodation.
Over five days, the journalists had the opportunity to discover different aspects of this ecosystem. The programme included an exploration of Palma’s positioning as the Mediterranean capital of yachting, its heritage and cultural offering, a visit to Puerto Portals and a sailing experience along the southern coast with Astondoa, as well as an insight into the nautical activity and hospitality linked to the sea in Alcudiamar. The itinerary was rounded off with a range of experiences focused on gastronomy, heritage and the island’s landscape.
In this way, the initiative presented the nautical sector not simply as a tourism activity, but as an industry capable of generating economic activity, specialised employment and business opportunities, while also serving as a gateway to discovering Mallorca from a different perspective.
The initiative was also an example of public-private collaboration aimed at strengthening Mallorca’s international promotion. ANEN received institutional support from the Mallorca Island Council and the Mallorca Responsible Tourism Foundation, as well as the collaboration of various public administrations, companies and organisations linked to the destination.
