Contenido del primer párrafo The paddler from Club de Vela Port d’Andratx (CVPA), María Reus Arola, signed a brilliant performance in the 87th edition of the International Descent of the Sella, the most important calm waters canoeing test of the international calendar.

The date, which took place on Saturday, August 9th, between the Asturian localities of Arriondas and Ribadesella, reunited 1.306 paddlers of 902 ships, proceeding of 25 countries, matching the record of international participation and consolidating as an authentic worldwide referent of canoeing. Along the 20 kilometres of journey, the paddlers competed against the best ships of the world, in a journey marked by the festive ambience and the great affluence of the public on both shores of the Sella.
In the female general classification, Galicians Tania Álvarez and Tania Fernández (K2) regained their throne with a solid victory, while in the male category Asturians Walter Bouzán and Alberto Llera imposed themselves, achieving a new local triumph to the “riosellana” interest.
The beginning of the multitudinary departure was preceded by the proclamation of the olympic sailor Theresa Zabell, the only woman in history of Spanish sports with two olympic gold medals, and for interpreting the hymn of Asturias, which resonated by the shores of the Sella.
With this result, María Reus affirms her excellent sporting progression and the grean competitive level of CVPA’s kayak team, which continues projecting the talent of their athletes on a national and international scope.
