Magaluf will host a leisure and cultural day open to residents and tourists on 27th of June to mark the completion of the comprehensive renovation of the Gabriel Escarrer Juliá Seafront Promenade. To celebrate the transformation of the seafront of one of Calvià’s most important urban beaches, a spectacular event has been planned by the sea, combining classical music, cutting-edge technology and gastronomy.

The central event of the day will be a free open-air concert by the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands, which, conducted by its principal conductor Pablo Mielgo, will perform iconic soundtracks from the history of cinema. At 9.30 p.m., under the slogan Magaluf is Cinema, the orchestra will present a repertoire focused on some of the greatest film scores in movie history.

Another highlight of the day will be an aerial show over the bay at nightfall. A total of 300 drones will create figures and visual elements related to the film theme, offering a sustainable visual alternative to traditional fireworks.

From 6.00 p.m., to liven up the afternoon, there will be a KPOP EXPERIENCE, by Kpop Baleares, presented by Sabelly Free together with Lienel, the winning group of the latest Kpop on Stage-Calvià event. There will be dance performances and random K-pop, as well as a small tribute to BTS.

Later, at 7.30 p.m., DJ Alba Serrano will play a varied selection of hits until the start of the concert. Once the orchestra has finished its performance, the party will continue with the band Lost in Translation, a Balearic musical project made up of Aina Zuazaga, Toni Bestard and Gonzalo Nadal, who reinterpret legendary songs from the history of cinema by blending different styles.

In addition, the 2nd Gastrofira de Magaluf will be held throughout the day, an event that highlights the quality of the local culinary offering and will allow attendees to sample the best creations from establishments in the area in a completely renewed setting.

The Symphony Orchestra invites the public to enjoy a major celebration of music from the big screen, in a concert featuring some of the most emblematic and moving melodies of the last century. From the brilliance and sophistication of George Gershwin’s An American in Paris to the soundscapes of Lawrence of Arabia, the programme offers a journey full of emotion, nostalgia and spectacle.

The evening will include unforgettable compositions by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Richard Rodgers and Claude-Michel Schönberg, before entering the musical universe of John Williams, the composer of some of the most celebrated film scores of all time.

The emotion of Schindler’s List, the adventures of Indiana Jones, the heroism of Superman and the epic power of Star Wars will follow one another in a true symphonic celebration that will take the audience on a journey through stories, characters and memories that form part of the collective imagination of several generations.

The second edition of GastroFira de Magaluf will feature different beach clubs and restaurants from the area, offering a variety of gastronomic experiences. Local restaurants and hotels have joined forces to offer an attractive programme that will allow attendees to enjoy a full day combining leisure, culture and good food in a unique event.

The establishments taking part in the event, some of which will offer live music, are Bondy Beach, Chili Lounge, Ibizza Pizzeria, Pardo’s, Kalima, El Balcón de Magaluf, Titanic, Blackbeard’s, Oceans, Sirocco Oasis Beach and Las Palmeras. Some will offer a menu specially created for the occasion, while others will offer discounts on their usual menu prices. In addition, some of the restaurants will continue to offer their dishes and culinary proposals throughout the weekend.

The initiative forms part of the awareness campaign on sustainable tourism in Magaluf, which promotes responsible attitudes among tourists and residents, encouraging coexistence and care for the environment. It is an initiative promoted by the Balearic Government and funded through the Sustainable Tourism Tax. Calvià Town Council is carrying out these actions under the slogan “Magaluf for All”.
