The Spanish Rolex SailG team will risk it ‘all or nothing’ this weekend at the DP World Spain Sail Grand Prix | Andalucía-Cádiz, penultimate stop of the 2025 season of the Rolex SailGP Championship. There cannot be a better scenery for this than the F50 led by Diego Botín assaulting the podium of the competition and arriving at Abu Dabi’s Great Final, with options of revalidating the champion title.
No one said it was going to be easy. Throughout their four seasons of competition, Los Gallos SailGP Team have never achieved competing at the final of the Great Award of Spain and fighting for the awaited wheel with the Spanish flag. Why not now? To that we must add the challenge of facing three rivals that, up unil now, have shown to be very consistent on water: Peter Burling’s New Zealand, Dylan Fletcher’s Great Britain, and Tom Slingsby’s Australia. After Cádiz, almost all the die will already have been cast.
Diego Botín, pilot of SailGP Spanish team, has said this morning in a press release that “It is incredible being here in Cádiz. We feel at home. We will make everything that’s possible to perform to the maximum this weekend in front of our people. We have to focus on doing good races, without looking back to see what the others are doing”.
Spain arrives in Cádiz in the fourth position of the qualifying of the Rolex SailGP Championship, with 70 points. In front of him there’s New Zealand (73), Great Britain (75) and Australia (76).
The DP World Spain Sail Grand Prix | Andalucía-Cádiz can be watched live this Saturday October 4th and Sunday October 5th from 3:30 p.m. In Deportes 3, of Movistar Plus+ (dial 65). Out of the Spanish territory, it can be watched in the official SailGP Youtube channel.
