The goal was to reflect and discuss how training and professionalization are key to ensuring the industry's sustainability and its connection with quality businesses. The event was organized by CIFP L’Embat, a vocational training center managed by the SOIB.
The first talk of the event was led by Astilleros de Mallorca and focused on job opportunities and how sustainability is shaping the demand for new professionals. It also highlighted the emerging technologies that are revolutionizing the industry. This was followed by various expert presentations on topics such as offshore boat maintenance and best practices, emerging technologies and the future of electric propulsion, and the role of nautical certifications as a guarantee for future career prospects. Participants included Cleanwave Foundation, Sail on Green, and Nostromo.
In the second part of the event, members of the Balearic Islands Nautical Business Association (AENIB) shared experiences on how companies are adapting their processes to become more sustainable and what this means for future workers. They also addressed new job opportunities emerging within their businesses due to the shift toward cleaner technologies.
The event included roundtable discussions and open consultations on what companies are looking for in terms of training and employment in the nautical sector, the challenges of a cleaner industry, and how to prepare for the future job market.
Throughout the day, attendees were able to network and exchange ideas with business representatives, students, and industry experts.
The event concluded with closing remarks by the Director General of Industry and Industrial Parks, Alfons Gómez, and SOIB Coordinator María Olivera.
