Francisco José Villalonga, better known as Kiko Villalonga, has been appointed as the new manager of PortsIB, taking over from Jaume Carbonell, who recently resigned for personal reasons. With an extensive background in both sailing and sports management, Villalonga is preparing to lead one of the most significant institutions in port management in the Balearic archipelago.

Since 1998, he has played key roles in the Direcció General de l'Esport, standing out as sports director of sailing and as director of the Reina Sofia Residence, consolidating a profile of leadership and commitment to sport and youth.
His sporting career, marked by significant achievements in the Finn class, includes titles such as runner-up in the European Youth Championship, Spanish champion and sixth place in the World Championship, which earned him international recognition and first place in the world ranking in 1991.
"It is an honor and a great responsibility to take on the management of PortsIB," Villalonga acknowledged after his appointment. "I face this new challenge with great enthusiasm and with the commitment to work for an efficient and sustainable management of our ports, always looking for continuous improvement and innovation to benefit both the port and the industry.
PortsIB, within the Directorate General of Ports and Maritime Transport, plays a crucial role in the economy and tourism of the Balearic archipelago, managing a wide network of port facilities including marinas, yacht clubs and buoy fields. Villalonga's vision and experience are key to leading this entity towards new horizons, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability in the port sector.
