The ‘Improbable’ has won for the second consecutive year a regatta that has had more wind outside than inside the port, but that has benefitted, the same as on Friday, the littlest ships. The winner completed the journey with a time of 1:46:03, while the podium was completed by ‘Kajsa III’, of Rolf Auf Der Maur with 1:01 and the ‘Alba III’, of Carlos Pons Vidal from Club Marítimo de Mahón.
The ‘Foraster’ turned, the morning of Friday, June 20th, in the flamboyant winner of the XXVI Menorca Sant Joan - Alfonso XIII Trophy. The cruiser of Club Marítimo de Mahón was the fastest, after making up the times, and took the very celebrated title given the complexity of the challenge of 140 nautical miles that separate the ports of Barcelona and Mahón.
On Thursday, June 19th at 12 a.m., the departure of one of the most important offshore regattas of the country with a participation of 48 cruisers was given. With a wind of 9 knots and a south-west, the fleet quickly broke, so the cruisers with more length took advantage. British ‘Caiarossa’ was benefitted to taking the lead in the first 40 miles, until the wind fell down slowly in the afternoon and matched the regatta’s head.
The night was very calm, with little wind for crews, which saw how the wind gusts returned minimally with the sun’s output. The first cruiser that arrived to the mouth of the port was ‘Enigma’, around 11:20 a.m. with a time of 23:33:08. Soon after, the ‘Kajsa III’ (23:44:36), the ‘Kilotón’ (23:57:05) and the ‘Anette’ (24:05:35) would arrive.
