More than 30 collaborators will take part in a day that will transform the port into a major hub for culture, nature, sport, education and entertainment.
DID YOU LIKE THIS CONTENT? WELL... YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The Port of Ibiza is getting ready for a very special day on 17th October. Under the slogan “Viu el port”, the Balearic Islands Port Authority will open the port area to the public with a programme featuring more than 60 activities and the participation of over 30 collaborating organisations. Throughout the day, different areas of the port will be filled with activities for all audiences.
The event, which will run from 10 a.m. until midnight, aims to bring the port closer to local residents and showcase the wide range of activities, services, professionals, organisations and spaces that are part of everyday port life in Eivissa. It will be an opportunity to discover the port from a different perspective and for the local community to feel that it is truly their own.
The programme includes cultural, family, sporting, environmental and educational activities, as well as events related to the maritime world and the services operating within the port. Activities will include demonstrations by security and emergency services, featuring vehicles, drones and a canine unit; activities focused on discovering the sea and Posidonia seagrass; environmental awareness initiatives; family and children’s activities; live music and dance performances; traditional ball pagès dancing; and entertainment for all audiences.
Visitors will also be able to discover Eivissa’s heritage through a 3D virtual tour of the Puig des Molins necropolis, offering an immersive way to explore this important archaeological site.
The day will also feature talks and educational activities with the participation of various specialists and science communicators, as well as activities related to marine research, sustainability, culture and the traditions of Eivissa.
The public will also have the opportunity to become part of the event through a photography competition open to everyone. On 17th October, participants will be asked to post an image of the Port of Eivissa related to the event on social media using the hashtag #ConcursViuelPortEivissa. The three photographs receiving the most “likes” will win the competition. The initiative encourages participants to see the port from a different perspective and share their own vision of this unique space.
The event will reach its peak in the afternoon, when es Martell will become the setting for the grand finale. A drone show will lead into a Flower Power party, bringing music, colour and atmosphere to the final hours of the event until midnight.
One of the highlights of the day will be the solidarity paella lunch held at the fishing quay. Tickets cost €5 and include a serving of paella, a drink and dessert, with all proceeds going to ASPANADIF, the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Disabilities of Eivissa and Formentera.
ASPANADIF is a non-profit organisation working to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families, promoting autonomy, social inclusion and equal opportunities.
The initiative aims to make the meal another opportunity for people to come together while also supporting the work carried out by the association.
Another attraction of the day will be the possibility of travelling free of charge between the different areas where activities will take place. Throughout the day, the City Boat, EU9 bus and electric train will connect the port from the Botafoc Maritime Station to Plaça de sa Riba, making it easier for participants to move between the different locations.
The programme involves more than 30 collaborators, including public bodies, companies, associations and organisations linked to the port and the Eivissa community.
All activities are free of charge, except for the solidarity paella, and some require prior registration. The full programme, schedules, locations and all registration information can be found at viuelport.com.
With “Viu el port”, the Balearic Islands Port Authority is inviting the public to enter, discover and enjoy a space that is an integral part of life in Eivissa and that, for this special day, will become a major meeting point for the community.
