Ibiza JoySail prepares for its sixth edition

The Ibiza JoySail Superyacht Regatta will be held from September 17 to 20 in the waters of Ibiza and Formentera.

With the launch of its invitation process, the organisation has begun preparations for a new edition of this well-established event on the international superyacht racing calendar.

This exclusive, invitation-only event brings together each year a carefully selected international fleet. The invitation process is carried out in several phases, starting with yachts that have participated in previous editions and later expanding to new sailing yachts that have expressed interest in joining the regatta, always in keeping with the spirit and format of the event.

As a new feature, the 2026 edition will be open to sailing yachts from 80 feet in length, organised into different categories based on design, equipment and sporting expectations. Among these is the Corinthian category, designed for non-professional crews and owners who wish to compete without altering their yacht’s cruising configuration, without the need to optimise their boats or meet complex technical requirements. This approach promotes an inclusive and accessible spirit that is part of Ibiza JoySail’s DNA.

This category structure allows for balanced and attractive racing for each class—from more cruising-oriented yachts to higher-performance boats—while always maintaining fairness on the water and the accessible nature of the competition.

Organised by STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza, Ibiza JoySail has established itself as a regatta that combines demanding racing on the water with a fun and relaxed experience ashore. Over four days, the sporting programme is complemented by a carefully curated schedule of onshore activities designed for owners, crews, families and guests, all brought together under one of the event’s key concepts: racing with family & friends.

We have refined the format edition after edition to offer a well-structured regatta, with clear categories and an environment in which owners, crews and friends can enjoy both sailing and shared time ashore, always in a unique, safe and welcoming atmosphere,” says Nacho Postigo, Director of Ibiza JoySail.

One of the most distinctive elements of Ibiza JoySail is its Perpetual Trophy, awarded to the yacht that completes the Mallorca–Ibiza crossing in the shortest time. This challenge, now one of the event’s defining features, has produced remarkable performances in past editions and adds a strategic and sporting dimension that further enhances the regatta’s appeal within the international superyacht circuit.

The event is also supported by sponsors such as North Sails, Southern Wind, Mangusta, Super Oh!, Monzó Yacht Painting, Varadero Ibiza, the Consell of Ibiza, Repsol and Yacht Moving, among others, as well as the collaboration of Club Náutico de Ibiza and the Real Club Náutico de Palma.

All of these elements are fundamental in maintaining the high organisational standards and quality that characterise Ibiza JoySail both on the water and ashore. The regatta is held under the SYRA framework and benefits from the technical support of ORC, further reinforcing its position within the international superyacht racing circuit.

With a limited number of entries and a proven format, Ibiza JoySail continues to move steadily towards its 2026 edition, remaining focused on quality, shared experiences and the enjoyment of sailing in one of the most privileged settings in the Mediterranean.
