Heat shows no mercy in the Balearic Islands: higher temperatures and more sweltering nights ahead

The first thing everyone checks before the weekend arrives is what the weather will be like.

That’s why at Passion for the Sea, in collaboration with Àngel Muñoz, creator of Meteo de les Illes, we offer every Friday the weather forecast so you can plan your activities in advance and enjoy the sea with all the necessary information.

The Balearic Islands begin Friday, July 31st, under stable weather conditions, with mostly clear skies and temperatures continuing to rise. Forecasts point to extremely high values, with highs expected to reach 38°C in inland areas and the northeast of Mallorca.

During the early hours of the day, mist is expected, and patches of morning fog cannot be ruled out in parts of central Mallorca. Nights will remain particularly warm, with temperatures typical of tropical nights and even torrid conditions in some parts of the archipelago.

Winds will generally be light and from the southeast, accompanied by the usual coastal breezes, maintaining calm conditions at sea.

The start of the weekend will be marked by atmospheric stability across all the Balearic Islands. Winds will shift to the southwest and remain weak, favouring very calm seas, with waves barely exceeding half a metre in height.

Sunshine will dominate over the coming days, although a layer of haze is expected to linger in the atmosphere. Temperatures will continue to rise both on land and at sea: the surface temperature of the Mediterranean is already close to 30°C, reinforcing a scenario of persistent heat and stable weather conditions.

The Balearic Islands are therefore heading into a thoroughly summery weekend, with clear skies, calm waters and temperatures well above the seasonal average for this time of year.

For this reason, Passion for the Sea recommends exercising extreme caution when carrying out outdoor activities and always checking the weather forecast before going out to sea.
