STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERThis competition, organized by the Catalan Sailing Federation with the support of the Barcelona Nautical Capital Foundation and Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita, will take place from May 6 to 13, covering 700 nautical miles across the Mediterranean, passing along the coasts of Barcelona, the Balearic Islands, and the Valencian Community.
The course is structured in two stages: the first, 200 miles, connects Barcelona with Mallorca; the second, 500 miles, takes participants around Ibiza, Formentera, and Mallorca, returning to Barcelona.
The start and finish point is the Barcelona International Sailing Center (BISC), at Port Fòrum, currently home to the Base Mini Barcelona. This international training center provides sailors with facilities for preparation and technical development. In Mallorca, Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita will host the fleet and organize the start of the second leg.
The start, moved forward to 10:00 a.m. due to weather forecasts, took place off the coast of BISC and Port Fòrum, with northerly winds between 4 and 8 knots and very calm seas. Until the offset mark, the boats were not allowed to open their bowsprits or hoist their spinnakers. It was an exciting start, with a conservative strategy, and the fleet passed the offset mark in a tight group as they prepared to set their spinnakers en route to Mallorca.
