Fifth place for 'Los Gallos' at Cadiz’s SailGP

The Sail GP Spanish team finished fifth in this Sunday’s race, October 5th, in the test celebrated in Cadiz, a DP World Spain Sail Grand Prix | Andalucía-Cádiz where Great Britain imposed themselves, but keep their options of revalidating the Rolex SailGP Championship.

'Los Gallos' made the Red Tides dream with their comeback, but two seventh places in the last two fleet races ended their options after starting on Sunday with the seventh position of the first session. The current champions, who wanted to try to win the date at home, will go to Abu Dhabi, on November 29th and 30th, by four points of the third place.

'Los Gallos' summed up ten golden points and decreased distance  with their Rolex SailGP Championship’s main rivals. 

The dream was not completed with these two seventh places and Spain stays fourth in the overall, with four points less than Tom Slingsby’s Australia, which finished seventh in the event of Cadiz. The aussies will be the great rivals in the fight for achieving the third position of the championship, every time that Great Britain and New Zealand have practically secured their place in the race which decides the winner of the 2025 season.

“We leave with a bittersweet flavour. We have started the day very well, with a victory that we’ve loved giving the fans. We’d have liked having more options in the overall, but we can only keep pushing”, said dijo Botín.
