Expectation before the arrival of the American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford to Palma’s bay

The USS Gerald R. Ford, flagship of USA’s army and one of the most powerful aircraft carriers of the world, will moore in the bay of Palma from October 3rd to 8th.

This scale, which is causing a lot of fuss on a political and social level, is settled inside its deployment in the oriental Mediterranean to show the naval cooperation between Washington and Europe, before the increment of tensions between Russia and the OTAN.

After mooring and spending some days in Oslo, Norway, where the USS Gerald R. Ford has led the Neptune Strike 2025-3 of the OTAN, a maritime exercise with over ten thousand effectives of thirteen countries in which they carry out drills with real fire, it is programmed for the bigger and more modern aircraft carrier to of the American Marine to arrive to Mallorca this Friday, October 3rd, with over 4.500 people aboard.

The presence of this military vessel in Palma’s bay will not go unnoticed. With 333 metres of length, capacity for over 80 helicopters and airplanes such as cutting-edge fighter jets, electromagnetic catapult systems, double side radar for advanced detection, canteens, gyms… The USS Gerald R. Ford, which receives its name in honor of the 38th president of the USA, is a whole flotant city that will arrive at the islands accompanied by other escort vessels of the combat group.

Despite its great size, the aircraft carrier, which began its service in 2017, will not be able to moor in the port of Palma and stay moored in the bay, it is programmed that the military staff as well as the technical one that goes aboard of this giant of steel disembark in the Balearic capital to carry out, during the six days that they will stay here, supply duties, getting to know the city and participating in different activities.
