DID YOU LIKE THIS CONTENT? WELL... YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The second part of the Pro-Rigging Regatta gets underway tomorrow, Saturday, February 28th, in the waters of the Bay of Palma. After the spotlight fell on the junior Optimist fleet during the first weekend, the competition now enters its final phase with the participation of youth and senior classes.
Fleets from the 420, 29er, ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 classes, together with OK Dinghy and Snipe, will sail on Saturday and Sunday in an event that has become one of the major fixtures of Balearic dinghy sailing.
Organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma, the regatta has once again exceeded participation expectations, with more than 200 boats registered across the whole event. This strong turnout has been one of the key reasons behind the new organizational format, which for the first time separates junior and youth categories over two consecutive weekends to improve sporting and logistical management.
After a first block entirely dedicated to the Optimist class, where Jan Palou of the Real Club Náutico de Palma claimed victory, the second phase features a multi-class sporting program, including youth categories that represent a stepping stone toward Olympic sailing, as well as senior classes featuring more experienced sailors. In total, nearly 150 sailors are registered for this second part.
Today, Friday, February 27th, the race office opened along with registration and participant confirmation. Racing is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:00 a.m., weather permitting. The prize-giving ceremony for this second round, which will bring the competition to a close, will take place on Sunday, March 1, at the club facilities from 06:00 p.m.
The Pro-Rigging Regatta is part of the club’s strategic dinghy sailing calendar, alongside the Audax Regatta and the Trofeo Abanca Ciutat de Palma, structuring the club’s grassroots sailing activity throughout the season. The event is primarily sponsored by Pro-Rigging, a company linked to the regatta for more than a decade, with the collaboration of Gaceta Náutica.
