This Saturday, September 27th, 2025, the Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita (CNR) hosts the most crowded edition of the Passion for the Sea regatta.
FOLLOW US ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES AND RECEIVE UPDATES FROM "PASSION FOR THE SEA"Over twenty boats of seven nautical clubs of Mallorca will participate in the 3rd Passion for the Sea regatta, an event that combines competition, good vibes and passion for sailing and regattas, and that has been consolidated as one of the most awaited dates of the sailor calendar in the southeast of Mallorca.
The regatta will kick off at 11 a.m. with a 10-mile coastal journey between S’Estanyol, Son Bieló and Es Trenc, designed to be spectacular from the sea, near and seen from land, bringing sailing closer to all public. “We want people to live sailing and regattas also from the coast, enjoying the spectacle of seeing sailing on the horizon”, explains Carlos Hellín, Passion for the Sea producer.
The journey will start soon with the opening of the regattas office at 8:30 a.m. and after the test at sea, the party will continue in land, already in the social tent of the CNR, with a sailor ‘picada’ in charge of Toni Reta and a fraternity meal for all the participants in the club’s facilities, followed by the welcome and the good-natured awards ceremony.
As tradition dictates, prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each class (ORC 0-2 and ORC 3-4) as well as in the overall classification. But there will also be a few surprises for the rest of the participants, such as a prize for the last-placed boat, a nod to the good humor and camaraderie that characterize this regatta.
In addition to the festive atmosphere, sailors from other yacht clubs who take part in the regatta will be able to spend the night at the club and enjoy its facilities and the crystal-clear waters of the island’s southern coast.
The event takes its name from, and is sponsored by, Pasión por el Mar, the nautical communication multiplatform of the Nautimedia Comunicación group, which broadcasts TV features and radio programs on Grup4 Comunicació (Canal4), as well as daily content on www.pasionporelmar.com and on social media, with reports, news, and interviews focused on maritime culture.
The history of this regatta shows that its spirit goes beyond competition: in the first edition (2023), 11 boats participated, with an exciting duel between Nidea II (Aleix Truyols), the winner, and S’Indio III (Joan Lladó), runner-up, while Beduino (Carlos Garau and Pere Pau Fullana) completed the podium. In the second edition (2024), 14 sailboats competed, representing clubs such as CNR, CN S’Estanyol, Puerto Portals, and CN Sóller; victory went to S’Indio III (Joan Lladó), followed by Peppa (Simon McGoldik) and Huayra (José Martín).
“Beyond the results, what we want is for everyone to have fun, to create a good vibe and a strong bond among sailors, and for the day to be remembered with a smile, as a regatta that is competitive but also fun,” says Hellín, who highlights the involvement of the CNR and its members as a key factor in the regatta’s success.
All of this will also be possible thanks to the support of collaborators such as Antoni Reta, who will delight diners with his culinary proposal, and the sponsorship of Suau and Puig, who bring their seal of quality and commitment to this nautical celebration.
