DID YOU LIKE THIS CONTENT? WELL... YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!This Thursday, December 18, at 7:30 p.m., the social hall of the Club Nàutic Sant Antoni will host the opening of the painting exhibition Marines, featuring works by Ibiza-based artist Diana Bustamante. This is the second art exhibition organized by CNSA in this space, following the show held last spring with works by Carlos Genicio. During the opening event, the artist will introduce the collection through a brief conversation with journalist Xescu Prats, followed by a traditional Spanish wine reception. The exhibition will be on view for three months, until March 15.
The origins of this exhibition date back to the summer of 2023, when Club Náutico Ibiza gifted a painting to CNSA to mark its 50th anniversary. The artwork, an impressive aerial view of the Illots de Ponent, created using acrylic and Japanese paper collage on canvas, came from Diana Bustamante’s studio and surprised Es Nàutic’s board of directors with both its subject matter and quality. The piece depicts sa Conillera in the foreground with its lighthouse, along with s’Espartar, es Vedrà, es Vedranell, and part of Ibiza’s western coastline.
With the aim of sharing this work with the public, along with other pieces on the same theme, a monographic exhibition of Bustamante’s work was organized. In it, the artist presents landscapes that are highly representative of Ibiza’s coastline and its islets, including several scenes from Sant Antoni. Her works are characterized by a distinctive color palette, signature stains, mixed textures using paper and marble dust, and a highly recognizable style that lies midway between abstraction and figuration.
Diana Bustamante was born in Madrid but grew up in Santa Eulària des Riu. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (1994), specializing in intaglio printmaking, and trained in Graphic Arts at the Islas Filipinas Official School in Madrid. Over her thirty-year career, she has held dozens of solo exhibitions across Spain and has been selected for national printmaking and painting competitions.
Her canvases have also been featured in numerous group exhibitions in Spain and abroad, including participation in the 1st International Exhibition of Spanish Artists in Taiwan in 2015. She was also part of the second edition of the Mata Ombres (Erase Shadows) solidarity project organized by the Vicente Ferrer Foundation in Anantapur, India, in 2019, and took part in the exhibition Baleàrics Musics at the Museum of Modern Art of Oran (MAMO) in Algeria that same year. In 2019, she won the Premi Vuit d’Agost de Pintura awarded by the Island Council of Ibiza, and in previous years she received first prize in the Balearic Ports Authority Painting Competition, among other awards.
Alongside her artistic career, Diana Bustamante works in graphic design and cultural management. She is a co-founder of the creative company Can Púnic Produccions and serves as an art curator for initiatives such as the Art Fair held during the Christmas season at the Club Diario de Ibiza.
