The 22nd Copa del Rey Repsol de Barcos de Época, which will take place from August 25 to 29 in the waters of Menorca under the organization of Club Marítimo de Mahón, has already confirmed the participation of 25 yachts from 10 countries. The figures once again highlight the distinctly international character of one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious regattas for classic and vintage yachts.

With almost three months remaining before the start of competition, the entry list reflects a strong international presence, with the British fleet currently outnumbering Spanish entries. The United Kingdom leads the international representation, followed by yachts from Germany, France, Italy, Malta, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ireland, the United States and Spain.

Among the yachts already entered are some of the most iconic vessels on the international classic sailing circuit. Particularly noteworthy is the presence of several impressive yachts competing in the Big Boats category, reserved for vessels over 23 metres in length. Confirmed entries already include The Lady Anne, Hallowe'en, Viveka, and Cariad, four outstanding examples of international maritime heritage.

The provisional entry list also features familiar names from the major Mediterranean classic regattas, including Baruna, Kahurangi, Esperanza, Clarionet, and Legolas. These yachts form part of the elite fleet that competes each season in Europe’s leading historic sailing events.

The strong international participation once again demonstrates Menorca’s appeal among owners and crews from across Europe. The unique setting of Mahón Harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world, combined with the excellent sailing conditions offered by the Menorcan coastline, has established the Copa del Rey Repsol as a benchmark event on the international classic sailing calendar.

The 2025 edition attracted 49 yachts from 11 countries, and organizers are hopeful of approaching similar participation levels once again this year. Entries will remain open for the coming weeks, and the fleet is expected to continue growing significantly before registration officially closes.

Racing will be contested in the Vintage, Classic, Spirit of Tradition, and Big Boats categories, with a programme that includes up to five coastal races in the waters of Mahón Harbour and along the Menorcan coastline.

The regatta will once again form part of the prestigious Mediterranean Champions Cup circuit, alongside some of Europe’s most renowned classic sailing events, including Les Régates Royales de Cannes, Les Voiles d’Antibes, Argentario Sailing Week, Vele d’Epoca di Imperia, and Illes Balears Clàssics in Palma. The event will also count towards the Trofeo Clásicos Mare Nostrum – Spanish Classic Sailing Cup.

Organized by Club Marítimo de Mahón on behalf of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, the Copa del Rey Repsol enjoys the principal sponsorship of Repsol and the support of the Royal National Cruising Association, the Balearic Sailing Federation, the Menorca Island Council, the City Council of Maó, the Menorca Tourism Promotion Foundation and the Balearic Port Authority.
