This project is part of the 2025 summer recreational boating safety campaign. The campaign’s slogan is “Myths that Sink. DID YOU LIKE THIS CONTENT? WELL... YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!But this three-part documentary goes beyond summer maritime safety. In addition to raising awareness and sharing practical, preventive messages with people enjoying the sea in summer, “La Ley del Mar” aims to introduce the professionals who work to ensure our safety at sea.
Over the course of the three episodes, we’ll meet crew members of Maritime Rescue vessels, air traffic controllers, and other staff from both Maritime Rescue and the Directorate-General of the Merchant Navy. They will speak about their daily work, their responsibilities, rescues they've taken part in, and ultimately, their dedication to saving lives.
The goal is to reveal the human side of those who work tirelessly to protect us at sea.
The episodes are released on the “The Faces of the Sea” podcast channel throughout June and July. The first episode is already available.
“Las caras del Mar,” the podcast that includes these three special episodes under the name “La Ley del Mar,” is Maritime Rescue’s official podcast. Since February 2023, it has released 30 episodes where hosts Carmen Lorente and Maite Cabrerizo share updates from Sasemar and interview the professionals of the organization to learn more about their work at sea.

Likewise, this year’s summer recreational boating safety campaign seeks to deliver a clear message: you are the primary person responsible for your own safety, and that safety depends on following the established rules before and during your journey. Our advice is to ignore those myths that, at the slightest complication, “fall apart” and can create serious problems, or even cost you and your companions your lives. So don’t hesitate: to make your journey a dream come true, don’t listen to siren songs, follow the Ley del Mar.
