"It will be 44 years since the Palos —that's how we call ourselves because we are four, like the four sticks of the Juan Sebastián Elcano— entered the Naval School and soon we will leave, by force, our service in the Army. My three peers, passionate for the sea as much as I am, decided to create the editorial with the aspiration of spreading the maritime world editing naval topics books. I was offered being the fourth palo and I did not doubt it for an instant", Berenguer explains.
Regarding the reedition of this work, he adds: "This is a different version, pleasant and easy to read, that won't leave anyone indifferent. The author, already dead, is the father of one of the members of the editorial and, in addition, all the pupils of the overall team of the Army learnt Astronomy and Sailing with his books. We are very excited to give a new life to such a marine ilustrated work".
The historical book juts out in questions such as the true origin of the Admiral, his nautical training and real development of his expeditions. Through a detailed analysis, Moreu Curbera tries to bring some light into the called "Colombian haze", marked by few documents and contradictory versions, some of them spread by the same Colón.
With a solid and well-documented focus, the author rebuilds the four trips to the New World from a sailing perspective, adding context and precision to one of the most passionate chapters of the maritime history.
With this launching, the 4 Palos Editorial is presented as a new reference platform for all those who are interested on naval history, sailing and sea culture, showing that the sailing spirit can also stay alive between pages and words.
