With overcast skies along the Tramuntana coast and a clearer horizon offshore, the two ORC fleet classes faced a course of nearly ten nautical miles, rounding Cape Andritxol and Cape Llamp on the outbound and return legs.
The race was decided after just over two hours of sailing, with a shifting and increasingly unstable sirocco wind as midday approached. “Kine”, skippered by Sean McCarter, was the first boat to cross the finish line in real time and also claimed victory on corrected time. It was followed by “Just the Job”, sailed by Scott Beattie, and “JAU!”, skippered by Joan Company.
In the ORC 5 category, victory went to “Calm Days”, sailed by Luís Portella, joined on the podium by “Just 4 Fun”, sailed by Silvia Cabrera, and “Tentol”, skippered by Pau Herrera.
As Storm Harry moves eastward, sunshine is once again prevailing over the harbor while the town prepares to honor its patron saint. Meanwhile, the Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx is already looking ahead to February, when a new regatta is scheduled to take place.
