Countdown to the Balearic ORC Cruising Championship

The waters of Ibiza and Formentera will host the Balearic ORC Cruising Championship on March 14th and 15th, 2026, one of the main events on the regional cruising sailing calendar. The competition is organized by Club Náutico Ibiza, in collaboration with the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, the Balearic Sailing Federation, Marina Ibiza, the Consell d’Eivissa, and the Ajuntament d’Eivissa.

The regatta is part of the Balearic ORC Cruising League and will also serve as a qualifying event for the Spanish Cruising Championship, ensuring the participation of some of the best crews in the archipelago and highly competitive boats.

The sporting program includes three races, among them a coastal race, traditionally the Around Formentera Race, and two windward-leeward courses. At least two races must be completed for the championship to be valid.

The boats will compete under the ORC rating system, divided into different classes according to their performance handicap, from ORC 0 to ORC 5, allowing for broad and balanced participation among different types of racing cruisers.

The competition will begin on Friday, March 13th, with the welcome ceremony and the skippers’ meeting. On Saturday, March 14th, the warning signal for the first race will be given at 10:00 a.m., while on Sunday, March 15, racing will continue from 11:00 a.m., with the prize-giving ceremony scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Calma Restaurant in Marina Ibiza.

In addition to the sporting competition, the championship will include various social events for participants and accompanying guests, reinforcing the sporting and social character of this event, which will bring together a large part of the Balearic cruising fleet.

The Balearic ORC Cruising Championship will award trophies to the top three finishers in each class, in addition to the overall title of Balearic Champion, consolidating its status as one of the most important regattas on the regional circuit.
