Countdown to a new edition of the Porto Cristo boat show

Porto Cristo will host a new edition of PORTES OBERTES on April 25th and 26th, the boat show promoted by the Tourism Department of Manacor Town Hall, which each year transforms the quay and Francesc Ramis square into a large open space dedicated to the sea, maritime heritage and cultural activity.

The official presentation of the event took place on Friday, April 10th, with the participation of the Mayor of Manacor, Miquel Oliver; the Councillor for Porto Cristo, Antònia Llodrà; the Councillor for Tourism and Fairs, Júlia Acosta; as well as representatives of Jaume Vermell Nàutica and the Club Nàutic de Porto Cristo.

With a wide-ranging programme designed for all audiences, PORTES OBERTES 2026 will offer exhibitions of traditional boats, shipwrights’ tools, models and antique materials, as well as children’s workshops, live art activities, live music and a craft market. The now emblematic boat fishing competition, organised by the Club Nàutic de Porto Cristo, will also return.

Among this year’s new features is “Contes de la Mar”, presented by Margalida Amengual, which will take place in Francesc Ramis square, as well as a musical lunchtime event with the group The Suricats on the Ports IB terrace. In addition, popular activities such as excursions with Creuers Illa Balear and discounted visits to the Coves dels Hams will continue, further expanding the range of opportunities to discover the natural and cultural heritage of Manacor’s coastline.

Another notable addition is the participation of the youth organisation Pescatruis, which will bring energy to the show with its mascot, Trui, a large fish that visitors will have to search for throughout the venue and with which they will be able to take photos to share on social media, giving visibility to the association.

In the environmental sphere, the hiking group Els Falcons will carry out a coastal clean-up day, from the beach to Coves Blanques, reinforcing the show’s commitment to the conservation of the marine environment.

The Councillor for Tourism and Fairs, Júlia Acosta, highlighted that “once again, we are opening the port and the quay to residents and visitors, with a programme of activities, exhibitions and proposals designed for all audiences, from families and children to adults.” Acosta also wished to thank the participating organisations for their involvement, especially in initiatives such as the coastal clean-up.

For her part, the Councillor for Porto Cristo, Antònia Llodrà, underlined the long-standing trajectory of the show: “this is a new edition of a fair dedicated to the sea that has been held for many years and has become established as a fair for the whole town.” Llodrà thanked “the work of the Tourism Department and the collaboration of the companies” and stressed that the event is aligned with the campaign ‘Porto Cristo, the sea our culture’, “as yet another expression of the maritime essence of the town.”

Finally, the Mayor of Manacor, Miquel Oliver, wished to acknowledge the involvement of all parties: “we thank all the people, public bodies and organisations that collaborate, especially Ports de les Illes Balears and the Club Nàutic de Porto Cristo.” Oliver emphasised that “PORTES OBERTES is a well-established initiative that serves to open Porto Cristo up to everyone” and invited the public to “enjoy the surroundings and all the scheduled activities and proposals.”

With the support of Ports de les Illes Balears, the yacht club, and the local network of associations and businesses, PORTES OBERTES reaffirms its place as a key event on Manacor’s spring calendar, combining leisure, outreach and environmental awareness around the sea.
