Costumes will be the protagonists of the 24th Canoe Day

The inscriptions can be carried out online from next Monday, August 18th, and for the first time, an award to the best costume and best characterized canoe will be given.

Next August 30th, at 9 a.m., enthusiasts of canoeing of the island are summoned to participate in the 24th edition of the Canoe Day, which, as every summer, is organized by the Club Nàutic Sant Antoni in the mark of the “fiestas” of Sant Bartomeu. In this special journey, canoeists do not compete, but carry out a round trip by groups from the club facilities to Salt d’en Portes. In this sailing spot, a technical stop for hydration and writing down dorsals will be done, which gives access to participating in the great prize contest that will be celebrated after the test, in the Sporting Area facilities.

During Canoe Day, around a hundred people usually participate and the only condition is being 10 or more years older and knowing how to swim. The youngest ones, between 3 and 10 years old, will also be able to paddle in the same ship of their parents or responsibles. The inscriptions can be carried out from next Monday, August 18th, and have a cost of 5 euros, that include a souvenir t-shirt.

As an innovation, a special award will be given this year to the best costume and the most characterized canoe. The objective is boosting a touch of creativity and generating more fun for the participants. Amongst the dozens of awards that will be given after the crossing, it is important to highlight a paddle surf with a kayak kit. In addition, the organization will give 50 kayak places for those who want to participate and do not have their own ship. Before the departure, the club’s technician will give basic notions to the amateur paddlers or with little experience.
