The jewel of the Marina Alta witnessed a historic event this weekend: the Spanish Sea Kayak Championship, which also served as a national qualifier for the World Championships in South Africa.

Club de Vela Port d’Andratx delivered an outstanding performance, earning two golds, five silvers, and four bronzes, cementing its place among the elite of national kayaking. Among the standout athletes was young Pep Alemany, who became a double Spanish Champion in the Children’s category, both individually and in SS2 alongside Eric Dosil.
Josep Cifre also stood out as runner-up in the demanding 20 km Downwind race, which featured an Australian-style start from Dénia and finished in Oliva. His performance secured him a spot at the World Championships in Durban (South Africa) in October, alongside Canary Islands native Pablo St Mary.
The team spirit, emotional intensity, and harsh conditions turned this edition into a milestone for the participants and for the club’s history, which wrapped up its participation with a commendable 7th place overall in the club rankings.
