“The organizers expect to surpass 30 participants in this edition, which will take place from August 13 to 17 in the Bay of Palma, with the presence of some of the world’s most iconic classic sailing yachts such as The Lady Anne, Halloween, and Manitou,” Cuart explained.
Among the activities planned during the regatta days is a nautical photography exhibition by Nico Martínez, internationally recognized for capturing the essence of classic sailing. In addition, Mallorcan sailor Bubi Sansó—who has crossed the Atlantic over twenty times (five of them solo) and the Indian Ocean twice—will give a talk sharing his experiences and perspective on ocean navigation.
One of the most unique features of this edition will be a walking lecture by Leonardo Vicentis, who will guide attendees along the docks of Club de Mar-Mallorca, stopping at each participating vessel to explain, in situ, the technical features and history of each yacht. This will enrich the public's experience and help promote maritime heritage.
In this regard, Manuel Nadal de Uhler, Commodore of Club de Mar-Mallorca, emphasized that “this regatta is not just a sailing competition; it’s a tribute to the living history of seafaring. Every boat tells a story, and our goal is to preserve and share that legacy with new generations.”
The regatta, organized by Club de Mar-Mallorca (CDM) by delegation from the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation (RFEV), is held in collaboration with the Balearic Sailing Federation (FBV), the Royal National Cruising Association (RANC), and the Spanish Association of Vintage and Classic Boats (AEBEC).
Following the warm reception at last year’s edition, the regatta will again feature four days of racing—a format implemented at the request of yacht owners, who value the opportunity to enjoy more time sailing in the privileged setting of the Bay of Palma.
The 30th Illes Balears Clàssics Regatta is part of the main classic sailing circuits in the Mediterranean: the 15th Mare Nostrum Classics Trophy – Spanish Classic Sailing Cup, the 2025 CIM Circuit (Mediterranean International Championship), and the Mediterranean Champions Cup, organized by the Vintage Classic Yacht Club (VCYC).
