The Director General for Institutional Relations, Xesca Ramis, today (18 February) presented the programme for Balearic Islands Day 2026, which will be celebrated in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera from Friday 27 February to Monday 2 March. This year’s edition revolves around the motto “A way of being”, which also inspires the institutional video prepared by the Government.

YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!Ramis highlighted that this edition breaks participation records, with a total of 301 activities for children, sports, participation, gastronomy and culture across the four islands. Of these, 258 will take place in Mallorca (219 in Palma and 39 in other municipalities), 16 in Menorca, 22 in Ibiza and 5 in Formentera. Agreements with municipalities in Mallorca have also increased, rising from 27 last year to 30, alongside the usual collaborations with the island councils of Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
The Director General stressed that the format maintains its focus on local and participatory activities, with proposals for all audiences and special attention to children, local products with designation of origin, craftsmanship and the cultural diversity of the Balearic Islands, including the participation of regional associations. As in the previous edition, registration for the Diada Market will again be free of charge.
Highlights include concerts by the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra (26 February in Manacor and 2 March in Palma), the Ramon Llull Awards gala and the Gold Medal ceremony (28 February), and the main celebrations on 1 and 2 March, with activities throughout the archipelago.
In Palma, the Balearic Islands Market will feature 175 artisan and vendor stalls; the Local Produce area will bring together 48 producers in s’Hort des Rei; and the Fishermen’s Guild and OpMallorca Mar will host 10 stalls in Plaza de las Drassanes. Parc de la Mar will host the Government Showcase, with 33 stands from all ministries offering educational, participatory and outreach activities.
The 2026 Diada also strengthens its commitment to culture and sport, with exhibitions, musical performances, craft workshops and events such as the Balearic Islands Cycle Tour, trotting races, slingshot competitions, football and tennis. In addition, the new initiative “The Route of Healthy Routes”, promoted by the Directorate General of Public Health, will be launched.
The programme also includes a wide range of activities related to the sea and maritime heritage, highlighting the nautical and fishing traditions of the Balearic Islands.
On Sunday 22nd of February, the Balearic Islands Day Trophy will be held in Portitxol from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, an emblematic canoeing event featuring paddlers from across the archipelago.
The Mallorca Island Council will also organise guided visits to the mestres d’aixa workshop at Son Bonet aerodrome (Marratxí), offering insight into the preservation of maritime heritage and the traditional craft of boatbuilding. Visits will take place on Fridays between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm and require registration at least seven days in advance.
From 27th of February to 2nd of March, the second edition of the Fishing and Local Fish Fair will be held around the Consolat and Plaza de las Drassanes in Palma. The fair will showcase the Balearic fishing sector, with information stands on traditional fishing methods, sustainable practices and local quality labels, as well as tastings prepared by sector organisations.
In addition, the Maritime Museum will offer workshops, talks and llaüt exhibitions in Ses Voltes and Parc de la Mar during the central days of the celebrations. Guided visits to the Ses Voltes headquarters will also take place on 1 March, with two morning sessions exploring Mallorca’s maritime history from a participatory and contemporary perspective.
On the same day, guided visits will be held at the Sea Museum of Sóller, in Port de Sóller, offering insight into the historical evolution of the relationship between the local community and the sea over the past 250 years.
Finally, Xesca Ramis thanked all participating institutions and highlighted the work of emergency services, security forces, Civil Protection volunteers and EMAYA staff, who intensify their efforts to ensure the smooth running of the celebrations.
