The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, accompanied by the first deputy mayor and area representative, Esperanza Català, visited the districts of Cas Català, Illetes and Bendinat. The visit formed part of the “Calvià a peu de carrer” proximity programme, an initiative of regular visits aimed at maintaining direct contact with the reality of each neighbourhood through dialogue with local associations, professionals and shopkeepers.

During the tour, the municipal officials reviewed the actions already carried out and presented the strategic projects planned for the area, highlighting some highly anticipated news: the lift at Bugambilia beach will once again be fully operational from July, once again guaranteeing full accessibility for people with reduced mobility.

The Town Hall detailed an ambitious list of improvements focused on road safety, cleanliness and the optimisation of public spaces. In Illetes, a major intervention has been carried out on Paseo de Illetes (from numbers 2 to 23), including the renewal of paving slabs, tree pits, road signs and resurfacing at garage entrances. Also noteworthy is the renovation of Plaza de Lepanto with a new enclosure for waste containers and the enhancement of the viewpoint connecting to Francisco Casas Street.

In Bendinat, road markings on the main roads have been repainted since 17 March. In addition, a full refurbishment of the pavement on Avenida Bendinat has been completed, with enlarged tree pits and renewed signage.

In Cas Català, the works have focused on repairing damage to roads and pavements, as well as on a clean-up plan involving brush clearance and graffiti removal.

In terms of infrastructure, Amengual highlighted the renewal of the main drinking water pipeline, in partnership with Hidrobal, which supplies the three districts from the Bendinat roundabout. As for transport, TIB Line 123 has been reinforced with new stops in Illetes and at IES Bendinat, improving the connection between Cas Català and Santa Ponça.

In the near future, the green area opposite IES Bendinat will be opened for shared use by the three nearby schools, a new resurfacing and pavement project for Cas Català will begin, and the fountain at the entrance to Bendinat will be transformed into a landscaped area. The expansion of the dog park on República Street in Bendinat has already been completed.
