Businessman Klaus Graf now has a street named in his honour in the municipality of Calvià. On Tuesday 16th of June, the official unveiling of the plaque took place in the town of Portals Nous, following the decision approved in a plenary session by Calvià Town Council.

The tribute was presided over by Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual and was attended by members of Graf’s family, including his daughter, Corinna Graf, as well as much of the municipal government team, together with numerous friends and residents who wanted to join this meaningful recognition.

During the ceremony, Amengual publicly acknowledged “the economic, social and promotional importance of Klaus Graf and his work, Puerto Portals, an invaluable legacy for our municipality”. The mayor stressed that “Klaus Graf was one more Calvianer, a lover of Mallorca. And today his daughter Corinna, at the helm of Puerto Portals, has not hesitated to continue his work and commitment to this municipality. Thanks to them, Calvià has a first-class marina and an international benchmark”.

Klaus Graf, who died in March 2014 at the age of 84, was a prominent industrialist and global businessman in the steel derivatives industry. A German citizen by birth, his brilliant career of professional success was consolidated in the early 1970s when he acquired the majority of shares in Teka Industrial, one of the most common brands of household appliances and kitchen furniture. His business vision and his connection with the island led him to make significant investments in the municipality of Calvià, where he built the Hotel Son Caliu and promoted the creation of Puerto Portals.

Today, the marina is run by his daughter, Corinna Graf, who keeps intact the spirit of excellence of its founder. Puerto Portals offers a nautical and leisure experience that is a benchmark for the Mallorcan lifestyle. It has 701 berths for vessels ranging from 8 to 60 metres in length and offers a full calendar of events, hosting everything from some of the most prestigious regattas in the Mediterranean to its own exclusive events.
