The show is promoted by MARE with the support of the Calvià Town Council, among other partner organizations. It features a collection of photographs designed to bring the Balearic Sea closer to both residents and visitors, inviting them to immerse themselves in its waters, better understand the surrounding marine environment, and actively participate in its conservation.
The exhibition offers different levels of interaction depending on the public’s interest. Through photography and knowledge, it presents an intimate and close-up view of the Balearic Sea, combining visual impact with educational content to foster emotional connection and environmental awareness. The photographs included in the exhibition are the 32 award-winning works from the 6th edition of MARE FOTO, the Photography Competition for the Conservation of the Balearic Sea. This is one of the main initiatives of the MARE project, which brings together art, science, and community to inspire action in favor of the Balearic Sea.
The opening ceremony took place at Playa de Torà in Peguera, attended by the Mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, and the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Climate Change, Juan Thomàs. Both reaffirmed the Town Council’s support for the MARE project and its commitment to the conservation of the Balearic Sea, highlighting the importance of protecting this ecosystem and collaborating with organizations that work for its health. Some of the photographers featured in the exhibition also attended the event, along with members of local neighborhood and hotel associations.
