‘Calm Days’ and ‘Xambo’ rise up with victory in the fifth session of the Two Seasons League

16th February 2026 by Agencies

The consecutive pass of the squall Nils and Oriana has left intense wind, rain and bad sea days in the Balearic coast, putting the sports calendar and continuation of the Two Seasons League of the Club de Vela Puerto Andratx in the cruising class into doubt.

With the second of the storms still affecting the Balearic Islands, crews waited for the decision of the Races Committee regarding the viability to compete in the fifth test in safe conditions.

During the morning, a narrow corridor of navigable sea briefly opened up under the shelter of the coast, a short but welcome respite that allowed the race to go ahead. With fresh to strong northwesterly winds and moderate swell around Dragonera Island, Punta Galinda and Cala Egos, a nine-nautical-mile windward/leeward course was completed for the ORC 0/4 class and a six-mile course for ORC 5, in a regatta marked by distinctly wintry conditions.

Pending the update of the start-of-season measurement certificates, “Calm Days”, skippered by Luís Portella, and “Xambo” took victory in their respective classes, bringing the curtain down on a demanding day that finally ended with a sunny Sunday.
