YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The Balearic Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment, Joan Simonet, and the Minister for the Sea and the Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, visited the quay at the Cabrera Archipelago Maritime-Terrestrial National Park today, Thursday, 6th of August, following the completion and formal acceptance of the rehabilitation works. The project has helped conserve this port infrastructure, improve its operational capacity and ensure its long-term preservation while respecting its historical and heritage value.
During the visit, the ministers were accompanied by the Director of Cabrera National Park, Maria Valens, and the Managing Director of Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), Kico Villalonga. Together, they inspected the results of the works, which were financed through the European Union’s NextGenerationEU funds and represented an investment of €1,580,796.27.
The works included the reconstruction and repair of the quays using traditional techniques, improvements to the port structures, replacement of the crane, resurfacing of the port area, rehabilitation of the slipway, renewal of utility networks, restoration of the access steps, reinforcement of the outfall and the installation of new mooring equipment, including bollards and mooring rings.
During the visit, Minister Simonet stated that the project strengthens the infrastructure of Cabrera National Park and helps improve the conditions required for conservation, management and public-service activities within this protected natural area.
Minister Lafuente, meanwhile, emphasised the importance of the project in ensuring the preservation of an essential port facility located in an area of considerable environmental and heritage value. He noted that the rehabilitation of the quay improves its safety, functionality and service capacity while preserving its historical significance.
The rehabilitation of Cabrera’s quay reflects the commitment of the Government of the Balearic Islands to continuing to promote projects that combine the conservation of protected natural areas with improvements to public infrastructure.
