Cabrera National Park Visitor Center hosts a day on artisanal fishing

The activity is free and part of the cultural program of Cabrera National Park, aimed at bringing the island’s maritime history and life closer to visitors and residents.

On Friday, September 19th, at 7:00 p.m., the Cabrera National Park Visitor Center in Colonia de Sant Jordi will host the talk “Artisanal Fishing in Cabrera: A Story of Sea and Tradition”, as part of the Cabrera in Perspective series.

The lecture will be given by Jaume Amengual, a fishing skipper, teacher, and nautical craftsman, who will share his experience and knowledge about traditional fishing in the archipelago.

With a personal and intimate approach, attendees will be able to immerse themselves in life aboard a 39-palmos llaüt, learn about the fishing techniques used, the species caught, and how the fish was preserved in optimal conditions. Amengual will also share everyday experiences and details about onboard gastronomy, offering a unique opportunity to understand the history and tradition of artisanal fishing in the archipelago.

Additionally, attendees can visit the Visitor Center’s aquariums before the talk, enjoying a closer experience with the local marine fauna.
