Boat registrations continue to decline regarding 2024

The Spanish nautical market closed the first five months of 2025 with 2,014 recreational boat registrations, representing an 11.6% decrease compared to the 2,278 units recorded during the same period in 2024, according to the "Recreational Boat Market Report: January–May 2025" published by the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN), based on data from the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine.

Within this context, the Balearic Islands remain the leading province, with 276 registrations in the first five months of the year, although this reflects a year-on-year drop of 34.6%. Barcelona ranks second, with 254 registered units, followed by Alicante with 188. Based on these figures, the Balearic archipelago accounts for 13.7% of all boat registrations in Spain during this period.

In the charter market, the Balearic Islands continues in the top position, with 167 boat registrations, despite a 32% decrease compared to the same period last year. Alicante follows with 85 charter boat registrations, and Barcelona comes third with 78 units registered so far this year.

Across Spain, the charter boat market recorded 654 registrations between January and May 2025, down from 873 in the same period the previous year, which represent a decline of 25%. Consequently, the Balearics make up just over a quarter (25.5%) of the national market for charter boats.
