Balearic sailors set course for the Techno and iQFoil World Championships

The sailors from the Balearic Islands who will compete on the national teams for iQFOiL U19 and U17 and Techno 293 U15 and U13 categories belong to the following clubs: Club Nàutic s’Arenal, Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, and the Formentera Surf Club.

Following the celebration of the Spanish Cup for Techno 293 and iQFOiL in the waters of Vilagarcía de Arousa during the first week of May, the national teams that will represent Spain in the iQFOiL U19 and U17 World Championships and the Techno 293 U15 and U13 World Championships have been confirmed.

The iQFOiL World Championship for the U19 and U17 categories will take place in Brest (France) from July 24 to 31 and will feature the following athletes as part of the National Team A: U19 competitors Antonio Medina (Andalusian Federation) and Martina Mantovani (Valencian Federation); U17 competitors Enric Patiño and Patricia Orosa, both from Club Nàutic s’Arenal; Mia Berazategui from the Formentera Surf Club; and U15 competitor Francisco Bleda from Club Nàutic s’Arenal.

Additionally, for this championship, the following athletes have earned a place on National Team B: U19 competitors Sandro Portune (Catalan Federation) and Lucía Guardiola (Andalusian Federation); and U17 competitors Enrique Parres (Valencian Federation) and Clara Puigserver from Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa. Selected for National Team C are U19 sailors Jorge Ruiz and Jordi Cerdá, both from Club Nàutic s’Arenal, Jorge Momparler (Valencian Federation), and Marta Juncal from Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa; and U17 sailors Gonzalo Ruiz (Valencian Federation) and Álvaro Pastor (Andalusian Federation).

The iQFOiL youth national team will be coached by Joan Carles Cardona from Club Nàutic s'Arenal, with José Luis Boronat as class coach.

As for the Techno 293 World Championship for U15 and U13, it will be held in Pwllheli (Wales, United Kingdom) from August 16 to 23 and will include the following windsurfers as part of National Team A: U15 competitors Biel Martorell from Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, Joan Servera from Club Nàutic s’Arenal, Olivia Sánchez (Andalusian Federation), and Cristina Iglesias (Canary Islands); and U13 competitors Juan Meléndez (Andalusian Federation) and Mariona Moragues from Club Nàutic s’Arenal.

Selected for National Team C are U15 competitors Concepción Montesinos (Valencian Federation), Sofía Álvarez (Canary Islands), Joshua León Castro from Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, and Marcos Dasilva (Galicia); and U13 competitors Alejandro Cuesta (Catalan Federation) and Maria Martorell from Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa.

The sailors competing at the Techno World Championship will be accompanied by national coach Isidro Enríquez and class coach Gonzalo Boronat.

The rankings were determined based on the results from the Spanish Championship held in February during Olympic Week and the Spanish Cup held in Vilagarcía de Arousa.
