Balearic sailing shines: Marta Cardona and Violeta del Reino, awarded at the Premis Esports IB 2025

The gala of the eighth edition will take place next December 19th at the Superior Conservatory of Musisc of the Balearic Islands.

The Government of the Balearic Islands has shown the awarded people of the eighth edition of the Premis Esports IB, that recognizes the achievements and values of athletes, clubs and technicians that have stood out during the 2024-2025 season.

Amongst the awarded ones, two key figures of Balearic sailing stand out: Marta Cardona, from the Club Nàutic s’Arenal, 470 mixed world champion and one of the great promises of sailing; and Violeta del Reino, from the Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx, runner-up of the world of adapted sailing in the Hansa class, indisputable referent in inclusive sport. Their trajectories are exemplary and their recent successes has turned them into the highlighted spotlight of this edition.

The awards ceremony will take place on December 19th at the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Balearic Islands, in Palma, last year's same scenary. An event that will gather representatives of Balearic sport in all its disciplines to celebrate effort, dedication and values that characterize sport of the Balearic Islands.

Premis Esports IB, boosted by the Directorate General of Sports, recognize the sportive achievements as well as the commitment to human and social values linked to sports practice.

The Premis Esports IB 2025 for each of the 12 categories are the following:

• Male promises: Rafel Tugores, Izunna Okafor and Daniel Dezuttere (Voleyball)
• Female promise: Marta Cardona (Sailing)
• Best female athlete: Esperança Cladera (Athletism)
• Best male athlete: Sergi Llull (Basket)
• Best adapted-sport male athlete: Joan Sansó (Para-cycling)
• Best adapted-sport female athlete: Violeta del Reino (Sailing)
• Best female team: Son Cladera Tennis Taula Club
• Best male team: Lô Esport Menorca
• Best technician: Bep Llorens (Voleyball)
• Best technician: Natividad Riera (Kickboxing)

In this edition, the prize “Posam Valors a l’Esport” has been given to the Club Vidalba, a non-profit entity created in 1997, which works to vindicate and make sport possible for all people. Throughout its trajectory, the club has turned sports practice into an inlusion and normalization tool for young people with discapacity.

The honorific price is conceded this year to postume title to Rafa Rullán, legend of Balearic basket and unmistakable referent of this sport.

In addition, special mentions will be given to Gemma Triay, Bernat Xamena, Úrsula Pueyo, Ismael Uali, Alejandro Forcades and Àngels Moreno, for their trajectories, commitment and addition to sport of the Balearic Islands.

The gale of the Premis Esports IB 2025 will be once again a highlighted event in the Balearic sports calendar, a talent, effort and values celebration that make sport in our islands great.
