Within the national context, the Balearic Islands account for the highest volume of registrations, representing 17.6% of the total, ahead of Murcia (9.7%) and Barcelona (8%).
Regarding the nautical charter market, there was a slight decline, with Spain starting the year with 37 registrations—27.5% fewer than in January 2025. Charter registrations accounted for 21% of the total for the month, compared to 26.4% the previous year, indicating that the recovery of the charter sector has yet to consolidate at the beginning of the year.
Compared with the overall Spanish market, the report shows that the less severe drop in registrations in January is due to a more moderate decline than the previous year in several segments. Nevertheless, the market remains below the levels reached in recent years, when nautical activity recorded post-pandemic highs driven by strong demand, changing leisure habits, and the search for safe alternatives to traditional tourism.
The performance of the Balearic Islands in January places the region back in positive territory after many months of decline, within a national context that continues to show contraction in both the general boating market and the charter segment.
