The average daily collection stood at 204.15 kilos.
By island, 3,252.10 kilos were collected in Mallorca, 1,547.43 kilos in Ibiza, 1,138.15 kilos in Menorca, and 391 kilos in Formentera.
Once again, plastic was the main type of waste removed, with 3,192.60 kilos, accounting for 50.45% of the total. It was followed by wood, with 2,061.87 kilos (32.58%); other types of waste, with 714.65 kilos (11.29%); organic waste, with 213.22 kilos (3.37%); vegetation, with 137.67 kilos (2.18%); and oils, with 8.66 kilos (0.14%).
Beach vessels removed 3,069.78 kilos, while coastal vessels collected 3,258.90 kilos.
During August, the service also carried out several special operations. In Mallorca, it responded to five cases involving drifting vessels and removed a metal buoy and a section of a wooden hull, as well as rescuing a live goat. In Menorca, several logs and a concentration of plastic waste were removed, and crews responded to a diesel fuel spill.
In Ibiza, the vessels responded to a case involving a drifting vessel and removed a work raft. In Formentera, a dead dolphin was removed and crews responded to an oil spill.
The service also detected an increase in the presence of jellyfish in bathing areas, collecting between 15 and 20 kilos of specimens from different species. No Portuguese man o' war (Physalia physalis) were found in the Balearic Islands.
During August, eight alerts were received and attended to. Five came from the 112 emergency service and Maritime Rescue, while three were reported by institutions and private individuals.
The 2026 coastal cleaning campaign began in May and will remain operational until September 30. The operation consists of 23 vessels, 15 of them beach vessels and eight coastal vessels, distributed among Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
