Recreational fishing in the Balearic Islands has taken a historic step forward with the official creation of the Association for the Defence of Recreational Fishing of the Balearic Islands, an organisation established with the aim of uniting the sector, defending its rights and acting as an interlocutor with public authorities.
DID YOU LIKE THIS CONTENT? WELL... YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The new association is calling on all recreational fishermen across the archipelago to join forces and lend their support at a key moment for the future of the sector.
Its main objectives include protecting self-consumption, defending a tradition deeply rooted in the islands, and actively participating in decision-making processes that affect the recreational use of the sea.
To present the project, an information meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, 29 January, at 6:00 p.m., at the Real Club Náutico de Palma, specifically in the club’s outdoor marquee. The meeting also forms part of the 2026 Spearfishing Master Week.
During the meeting, the association will be officially introduced, its objectives and lines of action will be explained, and an open forum will be held to share ideas and proposals from attendees. The organisers stress that participation from the community is essential to build a strong and truly representative defence of recreational fishing in the Balearic Islands.
