The Director General of Fisheries, Antoni M. Grau, and the Island Director of Economy of the Consell Insular de Menorca, Alícia Martí, chaired the meeting, which took place this Tuesday at the headquarters of the Menorca Island Council. The meeting made it possible to continue advancing the coordination of inspection and surveillance services, while also sharing operational criteria.
The Director General of Fisheries, Antoni M. Grau, stressed that “today’s meeting highlights the coordinated work between the Government and the island councils, with the aim of optimizing resources and maintaining demanding standards of fisheries inspection.”
During the session, the main developments planned for 2026 were shared, including in particular the operation of the PescaREC application of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, as well as several regulatory initiatives promoted by the Government. The operation of the green boxes as a tool for monitoring fishing activity was also reviewed.
In addition, a schedule for joint inspections in the area of fisheries management was agreed upon, a measure that responds to requests from the island councils and will make it possible to further strengthen coordination between administrations.
