The Board of Directors of the Balearic Port Authority (APB), at its latest meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, February 25th, agreed to select the proposal submitted by La Lonja Marina Chárter as the most advantageous offer in the public tender for the management and operation, under an administrative concession, of berths for charter boats on the Paseo Marítimo of the Port of Palma.

The concession will last 16 years and includes a committed investment of over €4.5 million.

The concession area covers a total of 17,915 square meters of public port domain, of which 17,100 square meters correspond to water surface, and includes the berths as well as a fuel supply facility for charter vessels.

La Lonja Marina Chárter’s proposal was particularly valued for the environmental improvements it incorporates, in line with the APB’s commitment to sustainability and protection of the port environment.

Among the planned measures to promote marine biodiversity, the company proposes the installation of mooring systems that help regenerate the seabed and the use of Econcrete technology, designed to encourage marine life growth on port infrastructure.

Regarding water management, the project includes its own potable water production system, the reuse of rainwater for cleaning and washing, and the installation of consumption control systems to detect leaks and improve efficiency. It also foresees the use of smart planters that significantly reduce water consumption.

To reduce energy use, La Lonja Marina Chárter plans to install solar panels that will generate part of the electricity required for operations. The proposal also includes electric charging infrastructure with several points for electric boats, as well as a charging station for bicycles and electric scooters, promoting more sustainable mobility within the port area.

With this selection, the APB moves forward in its goal of improving port services and promoting a more efficient and environmentally responsible management model in the Port of Palma.
